I have learned tonight that the phrases ‘the devil is in the details’ and ’syntax is god’ are totally interchangeable - it’s amazing how after nearly a decade of doing dev work, and after several hundred hours of building a robust application, the tiniest little syntactic disagreement can bring the whole thing to it’s knees.

An alternate version of this is ‘a checkbox can rape you in the ass’, which was also reinforced when I over-wrote about 4 hours of volunteer design work yesterday at 2am, presumably because I nailed the wrong checkbox in my FTP client.  It’s awesome when a low-level state of delirium can take a bad situation and make it oh so much worse.

The up-side?  Beer.  I just got some.  I may still be at the office, but at very least I’ve got beer.
